The annual national single mums business network (SMBN) awards are to be held at the Hatherley Manor Hotel in Gloucester on Saturday October 23rd. The founder of the SMBN is local Chamber member Julie Hawkins who lives in Ross-on-Wye, she supports single parents throughout the UK to gain exposure to their business whilst tackling barriers to employment such as working hours and childcare often being out of sync. Julie has won a number of awards and was a small biz 100 in 2019 whereby she was invited to the House of Lords to celebrate her achievements to date. Julie is supporting the Mayor’s Giving Month West Midlands which starts on 21st September and donates 5% of all of her membership income to Purple Shoots via Work for Good. The 2022 Award nominations open on 29th November and category and prize sponsorship packages are still available. The SMBN exists to help single mums make work work in the UK and support the UK economy.
